Marta Sala born in Katowice in 1985, raised in Chrzanów, lived in Kraków from 2000-2015, has been living and working in Berlin since 2015. She is a graduate of the painting department at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (Leszek Misiak's studio), of clothing technology in the clothing school complex in Krakow and of Art in context at the Universität der Künste in Berlin (DAAD scholarship holder 2017-2020).
Sala is a transdisciplinary artist who often works in collaboration with groups and individuals.
She is focusing on issues such as intersectionality, precarity, the right to the city, ecology, common goods and commoning, creative anarchism and solidarity in diversity. Sala explores the problem of waste, exclusion and marginalization, creating works from various material remains. Her artistic practice includes painting, collage, installation, sewing, costume design, video, performance, participative and public art.
